Gustave Reynaud
Mid-Century Ceramic Plate
Mid-century ceramic plate by Gustave Reynaud for L'Atelier Le Mûrier. Reynaud's work for Le Mûrier is highly collectible, representing the vibrant ceramics movement of the French Riviera during the 1950s-60s.
This ceramic plate was made at Le Murier, the pottery Gustave Reynaud (1915–1972) founded in Vallauris, documented there from 1956, where he worked with his brother-in-law Jean Derval among others; the workshop is known for its stylized plant and animal decors, often in copper-red or cobalt-blue glazes, and this 1960s plate is a charming example of that work.
