Blue Ceramic Vodka Pitcher

Sold

Roger Capron (1922-2006) Bottle of "Vodka" in white glazed ceramic with hand-painted decoration, signed and referenced "Capron B12 A159".

Roger Capron is a French ceramist born in 1922 in Vincennes. Apprentice of the decorator René Gabriel, he decided in the 40s to become a ceramist. In 1946, he founded the Callis workshop in Vallauris with the two ceramists Robert Picault and Jean Derval.

The success of French ceramics at that time gave Roger Capron the opportunity to expand his business. In the early 1950s, he opened the "Atelier Capron", which employed about fifty workers. A few years later, he enjoyed international success. He worked in particular with Pablo Picasso.

Today, his work is the object of a real craze from collectors around the world. Galleries regularly exhibit his work in Germany, Canada and the United States.

Roger Capron died in 2006.
