Longchamp
Pair of Mid-Century Modern Red Ceramic Bedside Lamps
This pair of red ceramic bedside lamps was made by the Faïencerie de Longchamp in France circa 1950.
Each lamp has a compact, rounded body decorated with horizontal ridges and vertical ribbed panels, which create a strong relief across the surface. The ceramic is covered with a deep, glossy burgundy red glaze that gathers in the hollows of the relief and highlights the pattern.
The Faïencerie de Longchamp, in Burgundy, is one of the historic French earthenware factories. These ceramic bedside lamps show its mid-century production, with a simple form, a strong relief and a rich monochrome glaze.
Both lamps are stamped and signed on the underside.
